The first round of Paizo's RPG Superstar contest has come and gone. The contest is a great way to practice your RPG design skills. It doesn't hurt that the winner gets to write an adventure that will be published by Paizo.
Last spring I blogged about entering, and I did. I've known about the contest for several years, but this was the first year I actually took the leap. Sadly, I didn't make the top 32. It's okay. I liked my idea, but I know that I'm not incredibly well versed on the precise game mechanics that would be necessary for writing an adventure. Now I have a whole year to read up on rules and come up with a new, even better idea to enter.
I know not all of you are of the D20 geek persuasion, but I thought I'd let you read my entry.
Corset of Holding
Aura moderate conjuration; CL 9
Slot chest; Price 1,000 gp; Weight 5 lbs.
This attractive and exquisitely crafted corset is generally made from a vivid blue silk and sometimes studded with precious gems of varying color. When worn it functions precisely as a bag of holding. It allows the wearer to store items as if they were simply being tucked into the top of the corset for safe keeping. Removing the corset has the same effect as turning a bag of holding inside out. When expelled in this way, stored items always scatter to the ground randomly within a 20-foot radius.
The corset can be worn under regular clothing and armor. If a character wears medium or heavier armor, retrieving an item becomes a standard action rather than a move action. If no other armor or clothing is worn, removing an item from the corset becomes a swift action.
The magic of the corset is keenly attuned to a woman’s intuition. Any non-female character who dons the corset must make a Will save DC 15 to avoid becoming confused (as the condition) while rummaging around for his item of choice. If the save fails, the character remains confused until the end of his next turn. Regardless, non-female characters must always spend a standard action to remove any item from the corset.
This item is lighter than a standard bag of holding and has a limited carrying capacity of 80 pounds. The corset used for creation must be exceptionally well crafted, least masterwork quality.
